The Frog and the Kangaroo bought a car
On a whim without thinking it through.
They spent all their spare time and most of their cash
In making this old car look new.
The Frog passed his test; put his L plates away.
The Kangaroo shouted Hurrah!
“O Froggy! Dear Froggy, how clever!” she said.
“Let’s go for a drive in the car,
The car!
The
car!
The car!
Let us go for a spin in the car!”
Said to the Frog to his mate, "I’m a bit skint of late
And the petrol tank’s empty of juice!”
So the Kangaroo digging quite deep in her pouch
Went in search of some change that was loose.
No cash could she find, though she searched long and hard,
And the car went to rust on the road.
Said the Kangaroo “Maybe your cousin could help!”
So they went off to find cousin Toad,
The Toad,
The Toad,
The Toad,
They went off in search of the Toad.
The Toad had a hobby pursuing great wealth
And he stored all his cash in a vault
Which was made the strongest molybdenum steel
Secured with a padlock and bolt.
When asked by the Kangaroo and by the Frog
For some cash in the form of a loan,
The Toad saw his chance to indulge his desire
And take Kangaroo for his own,
His own,
His own,
His own,
He would make Frog’s amour all his own.
With a sneer on his face, Toad inspected the car
And said with the loan he’d agree,
If a date with the Kangaroo could be arranged
On his yacht in the Aegean Sea.
Well the Frog and the Kangaroo stared open mouthed.
Had the Toad gone quite out of his mind?
They wanted the cash but the price was too high;
Another solution they’d find,
They’d find,
They’d find,
They’d find,
A better solution they’d find.
Well the end of this tale has a moral attached
And it didn’t end well for the Toad,
For the car’s rusty handbrake gave way of the hill
And the car squashed him flat on the road.
The odious fellow had not made a will,
So his fortune was left to his kin,
The nearest of which was the Frog who could now
Afford to go out for a spin,
A spin,
A spin,
A spin,
With his love he could go for a spin … JH
